Event in Fort Lauderdale | Christmas Around the World Less than two weeks to “The Day”, Christmas Day of course. When all the rushing around, shopping and food preparation comes to a finale and one would hope it was all worth it. This week on this “ Countdown to Christmas post I thought I would give you a glimpse of holiday events around the world. Of course, this includes our very own event in Fort Lauderdale, the Winterfest Parade sponsored by the Seminole Indians. In Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela, local people follow a tradition of rollerskating to early morning church services commencing on December 16 right through Christmas Eve. The roads are closed to traffic to make the roadways safe for people to skate.

Event in Fort Lauderdale | Black Friday Shopping I have been curious about Black Friday. So I put my digits to the keypad to conduct some research. When did this shopping extravaganza, this pumped up event in Fort Lauderdale commence? Is it an official holiday? How did this day after Thanksgiving get its name? Are we the sole country on the planet that includes this shopping day of pure madness on her calendar. Let me reveal what I found out… Black Friday, now known to many a retailer (and their prospective banks!) as the start of the holiday season was born on the fourth Friday in November. It started way back in the early 2000’s  but got fully ingrained in our physique in the year 2005.

Fannie Mae to Bring Simplicity to Lenders and Borrowers By Callie Dosberg Fannie Mae recently announced a series of innovations intended to bring more certainty and simplicity to lenders, employ stronger data capabilities, and help borrowers have access to sustainable mortgage credit. In addition, Fannie Mae previously announced plans to reduce lenders’ costs and enhance the company’s technology platform, including new capabilities for the EarlyCheck™ loan quality system and a new loan delivery tool. According to Timothy J. Mayopoulos, president and chief executive officer of Fannie Mae, “Our aim is to help lenders serve their customers efficiently so that more qualified borrowers have access to mortgage credit.  Real Estate Transactions | Follow The Money To Broward County In a recent article in The Real Deal, the Florida edition, it was noted that the residential housing construction boom is reaching us in Broward County. Of course, we residents of the area all know of this fact.  We are all aware that residential real estate transactions that  are on the rise. Any drive along A1A reveals the construction taking place in Broward County.   In this series of blog articles, I will highlight the real estate transactions and events happening in our neck of the woods. It is crucial, to “follow the money” especially if you plan on adding to your real estate portfolio or commence accumulating real estate holdings. The money is coming to us in Broward County. Invitation Homes, a Texas-based company that operates an extensive portfolio of rental properties just mortgaged its Broward holdings to the tune of $48 million.  I will watch this company as my guess is they will reinvest in real estate in our area. Only this past week, Ocean Land Investments completed the first of its six condo projects in the area. The project, AquaVita Las Olas is located on Hendricks Isle in the Las Olas Isles neighborhood.  Currently, there is one unit on offering at a price of $2million, other real estate transactions will certainly take place over the next few months.

By Paige Tepping Alright ladies, if you’ve just about had it with the man cave trend that’s been taking the industry by storm the last few years, it’s time to put your foot down and demand your very own space. And no, we’re not talking about your bedroom sanctuary that hosts a reading nook where you can go to escape the daily grind and lose yourself in a good book. We’re talking she sheds. It may sound silly, but she sheds are popping up in backyards across the nation as women look outside the confines of their own home for a space that’s all theirs. It’s the (totally acceptable?) grown up version of claiming a space and then posting a ‘no boys allowed’ sign prominently on the door.

Memorial Day Events- 2015 Fort Lauderdale, Fl This weekend, May 23-25 we celebrate the Memorial Day, a three-day holiday weekend. We will all agree, it is great to have this type of “mini vacation” ahead of us. Most folks plan family outings including traditional barbecues and trips to the glorious beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. It is good to take a break from the hustle of life in South Florida. It is celebration time! But I ask that you take a step back in quiet reflection. What is the true meaning of Memorial Day?
