Home Price Movement Showing up for 2017 Subdued home price growth estimates for 2017 are increasing as end-of-year data becomes available, indicating a slight showing of movement in the year ahead. CoreLogic, most recently, bumped up its price projection to 4.7 percent year-over-year based on November 2016 prices, which were 1.1 percent higher month-over-month and 7.1 percent higher year-over-year. The 4.7 percent projection is an increase from CoreLogic's 4.6 percent projection given in October. "Last summer's very low mortgage rates sparked demand, and with for-sale inventories low, the result has been a pick-up in home price growth," says Dr. Frank Nothaft, chief economist for CoreLogic.

Rising Rent May Not Drive Homeownership, Research Says Recent research sheds light on the question: Are rising rents driving residents to homeownership? The research, done by Freddie Mac, shows that the majority of renters are staying put despite rising rents and favorable perceptions about renting are increasing. Freddie Mac commissioned Harris Poll to survey more than 2,000 U.S. adults online in March 2015 to get their perceptions about renting.

Coffee is the gas in my tank, the end of my rainbow and allows me a quiet moment of reflection. In the recent years, we all have been exposed to an insurmountable types of coffee. I often think someone should create a dictionary with all the terms, types and concoctions of coffee available. Truly the phrases bandied about are a language unto themselves.

Mortgage Applications on the Move Mortgage applications increased 2.3 percent from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association's (MBA) Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending April 17, 2015. The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, increased 2.3 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the Index increased 3 percent compared with the previous week. The Refinance Index increased 1 percent from the previous week. The seasonally adjusted Purchase Index increased 5 percent from one week earlier to its highest level since June 2013. The unadjusted Purchase Index increased 6 percent compared with the previous week and was 16 percent higher than the same week one year ago.
