Last week, I posed several must attend events in Fort Lauderdale. This week I am heading further afield into Broward County to present more events in Fort Lauderdale and beyond this Labor Day Weekend 2015. First I will head over to Davie. Flamingo Gardens, located on wait for it…. Flamingo Road is offering half-price entry this Labor Day 2015. Included in this adventure are a Native Bird Festival and a narrated tram tour of the grounds. Of course attendees can all enjoy many botanical attractions on offer including the famous Flamingo in all their glory. One word comes to mind when I visit Flamingo Gardens…Zen. If you have never ventured over to Flamingo Gardens, I have no hesitation in recommending this attraction to you. It is well worth the money and effort in getting there, I promise.

Events in Broward County | Labor Day This year Labor Day trickles over into September, the seventh of September to be exact. Planning ahead, this blog post will review the events in Broward County that are taking place on this long awaited holiday weekend. But first… And as you know there is always a first, let's discuss the true meaning of this festive weekend. Labor day is a celebration of the American labor movement. It is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of all workers, the backbone of our society. It first became a national day in the year 1887 and passed a law by President Grover Cleveland. The official day of celebration, the first Monday in the month of September.

By Paige Tepping Alright ladies, if you’ve just about had it with the man cave trend that’s been taking the industry by storm the last few years, it’s time to put your foot down and demand your very own space. And no, we’re not talking about your bedroom sanctuary that hosts a reading nook where you can go to escape the daily grind and lose yourself in a good book. We’re talking she sheds. It may sound silly, but she sheds are popping up in backyards across the nation as women look outside the confines of their own home for a space that’s all theirs. It’s the (totally acceptable?) grown up version of claiming a space and then posting a ‘no boys allowed’ sign prominently on the door.

Boost Curb Appeal in a Day Sometimes when planning to sell a house in the name of renovating interior living spaces, updating bathrooms, replacing appliances and adding decorative touches throughout the bedrooms, homeowners leave outdoor curb appeal as a last priority. While of course the inside of a home is important, sellers make a big mistake when they neglect the exterior. Why is a home’s exterior so important?  Consider this: Curb appeal is often a potential buyer’s first impression of a home, the very thing that helps him/her decide whether or not to come inside. Whether they’re shopping online or by cruising through neighborhoods, the outside of your property is the first thing they’ll notice. If you’re selling your home or about to, how can you quickly and effectively tackle the outdoor appeal? Here are some key tips for boosting the curb appeal in a way that means quick turnaround and increased home value:

(BPT) - If you're planning to take on a home improvement project, you're in good company. A recent report by the Joint Center of Housing Studies at Harvard University predicts that the home improvement industry is expected to post record-level spending this year. As you prepare for your renovation, it’s important to review your financing options based on the size of the project, your intended repayment plan and whether you plan to use a contractor or do it yourself.  6 ways to finance a renovation to consider: Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) - A HELOC can provide ongoing access to funds using the equity in your home, which typically results in lower interest rates than unsecured credit. This type of credit may also provide you potential tax benefits. Consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of interest. Mortgages with Built-In Renovation Financing - These loans help homeowners complete renovations with a loan amount that is based on an appraiser's estimate of what the property value will be with completed improvements. This is also an option for aspiring homeowners who purchase properties that need repair. Whether a home purchase or a refinance, this option finances the renovations and mortgage in one loan.
