Mid week and we are in pursuit of entertainment for the upcoming weekend.

Our selection for the weekend of April 25-26, 2015 takes place on Saturday. Kathleen and I are heading to Bonnet House Museum and Gardens.

Of course, this is not to say if you need any assistance with your real estate requirements we are not here to help . However, and this is the caveat, after many (we mean many) years in the industry we have learned one important fact: it is important to take a break from work.

This is important in any industry in which you work in, a rest is essential.

So without further ado onto the “ Spring Fling” event at Bonnet House, in Fort Lauderdale …

First, a bit of history about the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens: Link to BHMG

  • The property was purchased in 1895 by Hugh Taylor Birch.
  • Archaeological evidence suggests this land was the first site of  our forefathers. The story goes that Spanish settlers where at this location when the new world was discovered.
  • This tropical estate had been in the Birch family for nearly 100 years when it was given to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation. This generous donation ensures the preservation of this local point in our history for years to come.
  • In the year 1984 this homestead was listed on the National Register of Historic places. The city of Fort Lauderdale deemed this property a historic landmark in 2002.
  • Finally in 2008, we are sad to report this venue was placed on another list. The National Trust and the Florida Trust of Historic Preservation  placed Bonnet House on the a list    of the eleventh most endangered sites in the United States.

Our local support for our piece of history is VITAL.
