Celebrate the ocean and the beginning of Sea Turtle nesting season, in the quaint beachside community of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.  The Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Turtle Fest is an educational, awareness-building event about the upcoming sea turtle season which started on March 1st and goes through October 31st. The LBTSea Turtle Fest is on Saturday and Sunday, March 21st and 22nd.  It begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 7:00 p.m. at  El Prado Park, 4500 El Mar Drive.  This is free, family-friendly, interactive and educational fun weekend is to learn about our sea turtles and their nesting habits.  There will be fabulous “Turtle Talks” presented by the Museum of Discovery & Science.  The kids will love touching and learning about these sea creatures. First Watch Restaurant is sponsoring the Loggerhead Kid’s Activity Area which will have arts and crafts and recycled craft projects to promote sea turtle and environmental awareness.  You can enjoy the free entertainment, with DJ’s from EASY 93.1 FM and HITS 97.3 FM keeping it going between the live performances by local entertainers. There will be plenty of beach and nautical themed vendors and craftsmen, along with a delicious array of festival food, including tasty fresh seafood.

On Saturday, March 21st, Stoked on Salt (SOS) Ocean Clean-Ups is sponsoring a coastline clean up for the sea turtles as they are getting ready to come in and lay their eggs.  Meet on the beach adjacent to, just north of Commercial Boulevard at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. for registration at the SOS tent. Connect with mother nature by joining Erika Lima at 9:00 a.m. for a free morning stretch, as she demonstrates and teaches Yoga.  From 10:00 a.m. until noon, groups will be combing the beach, removing litter and preparing it for the nesting turtles.  The SOS group would like to show its appreciation and will do so at noon, with an award and photo.
