Events in Fort Lauderdale | A Prelude to Halloween
The “cooler” weather has finally arrived in South Florida. I write this with a sense of trepidation (and fingers crossed), for this is my favorite time of the year. I akin this time of year to the moment when the hibernating bear realizes it is time to wake up from a long winter’s sleep. With that all said, what a great time to head outside to events in Fort Lauderdale
As it is October, and nationwide it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month the 9th annual Glam Doll Strut takes place this weekend in Esplanade Park. Shades of pink will be adorned by all participants who join in this shout out to cure this destructive disease. This worthy cause commences at 11 am and comes its conclusion at 3 pm. The entry fee is $45 and of course, the fee is tax deductible.
Heading slightly south to Hollywood…
ArtParks Live, located in Youngs Circle offers live music and performing arts for all residents and visitors. Themes include both recreational, educational ( think children) and entertaining festivities.
This weekend, October 24 .” Boo Bash” commences at 7 pm and carries on till the hour of 10. This free Halloween Extravaganza is addressed at the young members of our community. Children are encouraged to don costumes and participate in the renowned costume competition. There will be a free concert at this time presented by ‘ The Monsters” ( not a joke folks)
Another family event will take place in Flamingo Gardens in Davie on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
Haunted Nights is a two-hour event starting at 7:30 pm. This outdoor event is presented at the Garden’s West Arboretum and two additional haunted houses brought in for the occasion. To set you in the mood here is a “trailer” to the event.
There is an $8.00 admission fee to this spine-tingling event and is not recommended for children under the age of 10. Youngsters under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
