Event In Florida | Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens

There is a quiet paradise not far from us in Fort Lauderdale. The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is THE EVENT in Florida to attend at any time. For the courageous, this weekend this Zen garden haven is hosting a workshop for those interested in learning the Japanese language of Kanji. Kanji are the Chinese characters used in the Japanese language.

The class will focus on learning the “pen” stroke orders and the types of components that make up Kanji. The tools that will be used are traditional in style and include a brush and ink. All students should have basic Kanji knowledge and skills.

This is an intensive class, and I would reckon indeed a challenge.

The event in Florida takes place on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 1:00 PM.

Also taking place at the “Gardens” on Saturday, March 12 between the hours of 11:30 am and 1:00 pm is another creative class. This time Manga, a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels (typically aimed at adults and the kiddies) will be the topic on hand. This is not a hands-on event, but a lecture followed by a question and answer session.

The restaurant, Carmel Cafe is located at the entrance of the “Garden” . This restaurant offers delicacies from the far east. Patrons can eat, and l view the magnificence of the area.

Winding paths take the explorer down narrow lanes, over wooden bridges and into quiet Zen gardens. An area is set aside for the bonsai enthusiasts. Bonsai Trees dating back over one hundred years can be explored.

The Museum, is modeled after a Japanese home. There is an open air courtyard and garden posed in the center of the villa. The exhibit chronicles Japan “Through The Eyes of A Child”. I have spent many a quiet afternoon at this local. This is a must see event in Florida.
