Do you remember as a child the thrill of the big top? The red and white topped tent that meandered into town? The circus, mainly presented by Barnum and Bailey infused the air with a palatable thrill each and every time they came to our area? Over the years, there have been many of these events in Broward County.  I am sure many of my generation recall the clowns, acrobats, trapeze acts, musicians, tightrope walkers, unicycles and my absolute favorite, the tightrope walkers.

And I will never forget the smell of popcorn.,,

Move forward to the 21st century and some things change and thank goodness, many things stay the same. Arriving at our doors is the world  famous Cirque Du Soleil, the largest theatrical production company in the world. This company’s productions, in my opinion, are the continuation and development of the old time circus.

This production takes us to a place in a forest where all is possible, the land of Varekai. A solemn character is dropped carefully from above onto the stage and take us all on his adventure into a journey of the extraordinary and quite frankly, absurd lifeforms.

Varekai, Cirque du Soleil is presented at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. This event in Broward County offers showings until August 23, 2015.

Showtimes for this event in Broward County vary and include productions at 7:30 PM and over this coming weekend an additional matinee is presented at 4:30. The final day, August 23 the company presents two shows at 1:30 and 5:00 PM.

The BB&T Center in Sunrise is located at 2555 NW 136th Ave in Sunrise, FL 33323. This is in proximity to the SawGrass Mills Mall.
