Back in time, not so long ago produce, namely fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry and fish were all purchased in open-air farmers markets. These marketplaces were typically gathering places for the neighbors near and far. They were “The Fort Lauderdale Event” to attend. At these outdoor markets, local merchants were able to sell their locally grown products.These venues took place the world over. Somehow under the guise of “progression” these quaint gatherings were retired. But times have changed and all that was old is new once again. And to me, YEAH!! With the advent of a healthy conscientious mindset, we now see the re-birth of the local Farmers Market.
