Event in Fort Lauderdale – A Worthy Cause in Fort Lauderdale – All too often we forget the important and simple things in life. Food, clothing and shelter are the necessities in life. Believe it or not, in this day and age many of our neighbors fight to get these basic requirements.
No, no I will not jump on my soapbox as I promote a weekend event in Fort Lauderdale. However, I feel it is important to support local charities that are helping our friends and neighbors. Organizations that are doing good just because it is the right thing to do.
A big thanks to the Peanut Butter and Jelly Project based here in Fort Lauderdale. This project, started by Laura Florio aims at feeding the Fort Lauderdale homeless. Each Monday Laura and her husband, Micah head out, brown paper bags in hand and feed the less fortunate. Over the last sixteen months she and her husband have aided in housing over sixty people.
According to Laura “To be part of a moment in someone’s day, to be able to put a smile on someone’s face and see the look of relief, so that they didn’t have to worry about where they are going to get their food from, for that day at least …”
And now onto this important event this weekend in Fort Lauderdale. The Peanut Butter and Jelly Project (a.k.a PB&J Project) will benefit from a live concert this Saturday, June 13, at Revolution Live, 101 SW Third Ave., in Fort Lauderdale.
Two well renowned groups, Candlebox and Salvia will perform live in concert. All proceeds will go to this worthy cause.
Tickets are $35 in advance (purchase them here); at the door the price is for this event in Fort Lauderdale $40 each. Ticketmaster
In addition there will be several items auctioned on the evening including
a signed poster by Tom Hanks from the movie “Castaway”, a pair of boxing gloves signed by Mike Tyson, Lennons Lewis and Evander Holyfield, an autographed basketball from the 2012-2013 NBA champion South Florida’s Miami Heat and last but not least, a signed guitar by the Rolling Stones.
So set aside this Saturday evening and support this great cause… see you there!
